Chapter Summary: The Tinkling Bells
“The Tinkling Bells” is a heartwarming story about a kind and honest boy named Chinna who lives in a village and studies in Class 4. Chinna loves playing with his pet goat, Tara. One day, he sees beautiful tinkling bells at Chacha’s shop and wants to buy them for Tara. But to his dismay, he realizes that he has lost his money.
At home, he shares his sadness with his mother Kamala, who comforts him and promises to buy the bells. While shopping for fruits, a fruit seller gives Chinna extra change by mistake. Tempted to use the extra money for the bells and chocolates, Chinna talks to his mother, who teaches him about honesty. Realizing his mistake, he returns the money to the fruit seller and earns praise.
In the end, his honesty is rewarded — his mother takes him to buy the bells, and he joyfully ties them around Tara’s neck. The story teaches children the values of honesty, responsibility, and compassion.
